The River Awards Sub-structure Contract to Bouygues-Thai
Raimon Land has awarded Bouygues-Thai the sub-structure contract for The River condominium project on Bangkok's Chao Phraya River at a value of THB550 million. The contracts for the main superstructure and finishing works are currently being negotiated with Bouygues-Thai, and an agreement is expected to be reached before July to allow for a seamless continuation of the project. The 40-month construction programme for the luxury condominium development commenced in April this year, with completion slated for September 2011, when the transfer of units will begin. The piling work on The River has been completed and Bouygues-Thai, which is currently constructing Raimon Land's 376-unit Northpoint condominium project in Pattaya, has already begun mobilising for the sub-structure work. Bouygues-Thai won the The River's sub-structure contract due to its proven track record for superior construction.

Raimon Land Board Approves THB900-million Debenture
Raimon Land's Board of Directors has approved the issuance of THB900 million in debentures by its subsidiary, Contemporary Property, to a Lehman Brothers company. The Raimon Land board agreed to the non-connected transaction at the company's Bangkok headquarters after previously reaching an agreement with Lehman Brothers. The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, Bangkok Branch, is acting as the trustee for the secured debentures, which are being issued at an annual interest rate of MLR +1.35% for an 18-month term. The debentures will provide Contemporary Property with the financial security it needs to move forward after the successful completion and ongoing handover of The Lofts Yennakart. It also enhances Raimon Land's reputation as a developer with the financial security and the established track record required to inspire investor confidence and to build long-term trust in the company and in upmarket Thailand real estate investments.

The River's Elevator Wins Prestigious Award
Raimon Land's luxury condominium development, The River, won the prestigious Elevator World magazine's 10th Annual 2008 Project of the Year Award in the Accessibility Systems category for its “upside-down, inside-out” platform elevator at the Bangkok show suite. The three-storey custom lift is unique due to the absence of any visible means of support. Its open-top circular platform rests on the ground floor, but when in use the elevator acts as a hydraulic pedestal pushing passengers to the desired floor. A profiled leather balustrade sits on top of the 1.25-metre-high circular wall to allow riders to view the cityscape as the elevator climbs inside the spiral staircase. Elevator World's panel of industry specialists selected The River's “upside-down, inside-out” design for its unique application, challenges that had to be overcome, the teamwork and techniques involved for its successful installation, use of advanced technology and the overall quality of the presentation.
